Lift sagged extended shackles good idea?

I have a 88.5 wt sierra and have a 2" suspension lift in it
It has now become apparent that it has sagged a S#!T load and am wondering would it be ok to just throw a set of 2" extended shackles on it without having to get new shocks again aswell i will be custom making the shackles just not sure if the shocks will be ok with it and also will i have to extend the brake lines

you should have put extended brake lines in when you got the springs
also you can get left springs reset and also extended shackles don't really give you much lift

cheers for the quick response.
At the time i didnt know much about modding i just wanted to get it lifted for bigger tyres. so i take it just throw the shackles on and see how it goes?

What's your reasoning behind this? If tyre clearance isn't an issue, I would have thought the only reason you'd fit extended shackles would be if you were trying to adjust the shackle angle to suit longer springs?

I was planning with my mine to fit OME 2" rears up front, use fish plates to bring rear spring hanger mount back 30mm, chuck the springs on with some 2" extended shackles for a coupla days to get the initial sag over and done with, and then make up some custom length ones as short as possible but aiming for a 45 degrees'ish shackle angle at normal ride height and load. Is this the right way to do it?

Aaaaaah okay :D Makes a bit more sense now. I was starting to think I still didn't have a clue (which is pretty likely anyway!) after reading this forum for over two years! :lol:

So after all that is it worth putting the shackles on or should i get new springs or reset springs??

Also yes or no to extended brake lines. (p.s like i said i didnt know much when i did the suspension hence why i never did brake lines...)

Shackles IMHO shouldn't be used for lift, they should be made to suit the springs to give the desired shackle angle.

Re-set your springs or better still get custom main and second leaves and custom shackles to suit.

if you are just after tyre clearance why not kust do a body lift? im about to get one and extend my lines to
85 hi top drover, 31s, 2 inch exended shackles 2 inch bl.
88 tb42 swb mav,35 claws, 4 inch lift

as these two quotes say shackles shouldn't be used for lift rather a way of improving flex, depending if you like your springs you could get them reset if you want . but it could be that this will be almost the cost of springs, also is there a shop near Kilmore that does it is another

*You need extended brake lines there is a rip a line out
*On another note flat springs with 3 or 4 leafs give good flex

and finally to work out what shocks you need take them out first and ramp the zook so that you can work out the top and bottom limit points of your suspension ... it is common adding 2inch bump stop extensions
