is 3" exhaust on N/A TD42 too big ?
I am planning on putting a turbo on my truck over the next 12 or so months but im due for a new exhaust just wondering if 3" with extractors will work well on a NA TD42 or will it cause more harm then good?

If you want to future proof yourself, then do it. Just remember you will have to get and engine and dump pipe made to suit the turbo.
I really dont think it will effect your performance too much, but have never had a vehicle to dyno before and after to prove so.

Fit it for future turbo setup ,BUT our dyno shows that extractors and 3" systems on N/A TD42's lose usable power and torque.InSanE wrote:I am planning on putting a turbo on my truck over the next 12 or so months but im due for a new exhaust just wondering if 3" with extractors will work well on a NA TD42 or will it cause more harm then good?

Install your extractors and 3inch system, but get a small section of two inch pipe put in between the extractors and the rest. You will need to do a dump pipe from your turbo anyway, so it is no real loss.
If you firn that you want to go three inch all the way replace the 2 inch bit that you had made up ( bolted flanges)
The exhaust will only flow as well as it's most constricitve part.

Turbo does a remarkable jobas a muffler.

non turbo without a muffler is farkin loud... trust me. the turbo really does cancel out a lot of noise. If your going to go turbo then why bother with the extractors? If you really want 3 inch then just do it up to the flange on the header pipes and this way it will bolt up to the dump pipes that come with turbo kits... extractors are just a waste of money if your going to get a turbo any time soon. I got them but wish i had just gone for the turbo straight away. it would have saved me a lot of money.
