I am currantly running a supercharger on my td42 engine.At first it was running 8lb,but now I have change the pulley system to a toothed drive belt and up the gearing.My problem is that it has increased the boost to 12lb. Now this making the air temp rise to 100deg c plus.Ive bought a intercooler of a rx7 series 5, Im going to top mount it with a gu scoop,the intercooler is 300mmx200mmx50mm.My question is will this size intercooler be big enough and what is the max air temp I can run into the engine safley.And wat is a safe boost pressure to run in "96" td42 engine

ITs hard to tell really, depends on the life of the car, klms, how well the engine has been cared for.. the strength should hold 12psi (if same as turbo @12psi should do it easy).
Have a look at www.are.com.au good turbo site, will give you some ideas on stuff...
GQ's are well known for overheating problems with turbo/blowers....

Mark from ARB Sth (used to be) ran 20psi in his TD42, but I would hesitate going over 14psi for road work.
Our old diesel is dead now, head on.
We were racing a 4.5L petrol GU on a beach in Tassie one time, couldnt shake him so we just upped the booste from the in cab controler to 21psi, certainly felt the increase in acceleration and left him in our dust.

yea when mine went from 9-11psi the difference was HEAPS, going from 12-20 would have left you with testicles in the ears....

do the petrol motor overheat as well? i have just bought a turbo kit for my petrol 4.2. i think it runs about 7lb.

The cooling system has to be spoton...
which system did u get?
8psi in mine we didnt notice $3000 difference.
AS I see it the temp is a relationship to fuelling on a diesel.
If you increased boost temp shouldnt rise.
If you increased fuel as well or are using an aneroid that adj fuel then it will get hotter.
You can back the fuel off and leave the boost alone.
Petrols run the other way, more fuel, colder combustion.
