Lockers
Lockers
Gday All,
I have looked around, and not really found out what im after.
For a lil sierra, what is the prefered form of locker, I have only ever used detroit, or ARB, but im leaning to Lock-right.
Has anyone got first hand help, pros or cons of Lock-Right.

If it breaks, excellent, time for an upgrade
Re: Lockers
If you do decide to go for a Lock-Right, I reckon it would be worth seeing if its possible to get it cheaper in a group buy, I am also after a sierra one depending on price and I am sure there would be others, just an idea?david123 wrote:Gday All,

Yes ive looked in the search and bible, but im fairly new to zooks and have no experience with lockers for them.
The Lock-Right seems a gentler locker than Detroit. I had Detroit on a F150 4wd, had a worked big block with a Dana 60 out back, often when she locked, it shook the crap outa the car, big bang, not good for lil toy car.
This is why I'm asking, people here have lockers in their zooks, and I'm after help in deciding what is best, and why.
Im all for ARB, , bit excy but, if ARB is the preferred, so be it.

You would have had a detroit in the Dana, the detroit you are refering too for a zook diff is the detroit EZ locker, and while it works on a simillar principle, it is a different thing to the proper detroit. As Joe said, Air locker if you got the $$.david123 wrote:Yes ive looked in the search and bible, but im fairly new to zooks and have no experience with lockers for them.

Auto lockers are more like auto unlockers, they remain locked till there is enough torque from both wheels to allow the clutch packs to move agianst the pins, thendog teeth on the clutches to "ratchet" over the teeth of the coupler/side gear ( this may not be the best explenation, but i suck at explaining these things ).

The place to get them is Ebay US - last month a guy was selling them for $209US, but now that has gone up to I think $219US... That is only a billion $AU...
I'll see if I can find the seller...
Ok here it is,

I am keen to buy one too if anyone wants to organise a group buy...

Lock rights are fine. Never had any dramas with mine. Although it has only been in there for 8mths or so...
Once again can't fault Sean from Lowrange, is more than helpful & very cheap compared to Aussie shops!

"85 drover, 1.6 EFi Vitara donk, 2" BL, 2" susp lift, exo cage, 31" BFG muds, 6.5's, lockright rear, birf rings & front locker, soon to be RUF"d
Has anyone purchased anything from them recently? I tried to a month or so ago, and was told that I could only deal with locktup, as they are the aussie distributor. No problems there, their service is exceptional, however I have never seen lockrites in Aus for under $500... I hope to be proven wrong.
My mate just bought a rebuild kit for his gearbox and a few other bits & pieces. This would have been a week ago? No dramas with that, think he was ordering gears this week also.

Hi all
I just had a look at the lockers on ebay and lowrange, but what I would like to know is what is the difference with a Powertrax Lockright with Couplers and one without, apart from using it in the front?
If you dont have a coupler for the rear you can still use so why is it needed then at all
I am interested in a group buy if anyone else is .....

"the other month...". You might want to catch up with some faaaairly major changes that have been occuring on world financial markets over the last coupla weeks mate11_evl wrote:the other month i could get 6.5 gears for around $550 delivered!!! if they can match that ill place an order now
A month or two ago US$1 = AU$0.95 .... today US$1 = AU$0.69. Those US$475 6.5's + say US$80 postage and handling are now worth about AU$805 delivered, not $550.......
Don't worry, I missed the boat on 6.5's too
Since when do Locktup and LowRange have any association? I have dealt with both Chris and Sean regularly and recently. Interested to know, not that it makes any difference to my purchasing.lump_a_charcoal wrote:Locktup are the Aussie distributor for Lowrange, so I doubt it...GRPABT1 wrote:I reckon locktup4x4 would beat lowrange's price
But give it a try anyway!

If you guys want to do a group buy, shoot me an email at chris @ locktup4x4.com.au and I will see what I can put together. We will be able to save a bit on freight if we consolidate it with one of our stock shipments.
