Need a new turbo
Well after being told my turbo is irrepairable, i priced a mistsubishi turbo and dump pipe to suit the TD42 for $1600.
Dunno what size it is but it is from the kit that MTQ in Laverton (Melb) sell...
Does this sound like normal pricing or am i getting ripped?

I have a stock 2003 GU 4.2 turbo here that isnt needed anymore.
Nothing wrong with it, just over 100,000kms went another direction

What is wrong with it? Do remeber a Mits turbo won't just bolt up. In fact none do except hitachi. There is a lot of work to make bb Garretts fit. A correctly sized Garrett will cost 1600 ish, just for the turbo, no hoses, pipe work, studs nuts etc.
What do you want to do with the vehicle? Maybe think of future proofing yourself.

Its for a gq td42, originally it was an ATI kit fitted back in the late 80's i believe.
The turbo's are now obsolete, as they no longer make spares for them, i need a new exhaust housing (mines cracked most of the way around). I'm not sure if its the same as the gu one or not, but the guy said that it should bolt up to my manifold, and the plumbing should match up fairly similar.
Can anyone do a better deal or know of anyone that can?

MTQ kits come standard with mitsubishi turbos, so there is a possibility that only a mitsubishi will bolt up.Dzltec wrote:Do remeber a Mits turbo won't just bolt up.

AIT use a T3 flange, I had one of there kits here 2 weeks ago with the same problem. The bloke that owns it was quoted $200 for a new rear housing. They are a split pulse T3 flange with 5 bolt dump, thats about all I can tell you about the real old AIT kits.
MTQ manifolds use a T3 flange also, but I'm unsure on the dump pipe pattern or type. They are mistubishi TD05 normally.
A month ago I gave a bloke a hand to fit a KKR430? T3/T4 T04E turbo to and old luxons kit. Everything fitted straight up except the dump, old Garrett was 5 bolt and KKR is a V band.
The luxons turbo looked the same as the AIT. Everything looked identical. These were both old late 80's kits and look very similar if not the same as the AXT kit.

Well if it's T3, then you've got no end of options. From dirt cheap (chinese T3/T4) to as much as you want to spend.
I have a bolt on adapter design to convert a T3 flange to the T25/T28 flange. PM me your email and I can send you the drawings.
How much do you want to spend and what are your boost goals?
