Just for collecting information
This is a list of the possible crankshaft that can be fitted in a Feroza but with exception the HC engine of a charade that is slightly different.
2 Cranshaft Feroza
1Terios
1 Applause
1Charade
Here is the difference Charade with feroza-applause*
*applause has come up with one crankshaft that has the same part number with one of the two version of the Feroza Crankshaft and also the Terios crankshaft until the 2000. All these are info that can someone possible try to see with measurements if they can be fitted.

The HC cranks are no use for a HD block as their stroke is too short - deck height on a HC is lower then a HD, IIRC -20mm. ( HC's are 1300cc, HD's are 1600cc and its all in the stroke - bore is identical, HC block is just a shorter version of an HD).
The HC crank will physically fit in an HD as the main and big end journal diameters are the same etc etc but with the shorter stroke they are unsuitable.
Personally I prefer the symmetrically counterbalanced HD cranks - but I've never noticed any measurable difference in performance
HC & HD conrods are the same but the pistons differ. If you put HC pistons into an HD you end up with a compression ratio of well over 11:1 - far too much for anything but a racing engine.
Oh and then front pulleys vary as well, but I've had V belt pulleys turn up on both types of cranks- so theres no pattern to be seen
Combustion chamber volumes also differ between HC and HD heads but so little as to not matter in practice.
Cams differ between applications even in the same engine. For example Applause HD cams produce a little more top end power but sacrifice some bottom end torque over the Feroza HD cam
I have HC & HD blocks, cranks, pistons etc etc and have played with the combinations. There's not really any significant advantages in mixing the bits.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

The only reason about my post is that we had a broken crank in one of our Feroza Club members and we asked the Daihatsu Service and they told us that the HC crank is exact the same which in true is not.

Wow a broken crank ! How did that happen - too many revs, bad luck or what - and which type of crank was it, fully counterbalanced of the other ?
Yes you are right HC cranks are NOT the same as HD cranks. Whilst they look virtually identical the HC has a significantly shorter stroke than the HD.
So if you use the wrong one...
HC crank in an HD engine - stroke too short, very low compression - very likely not to run
HD crank in an HC engine - stroke too long, piston will hit cylinder head and thats' the end.
Actually the HC's aren't a bad road engine for a 1300, because they are short stoke they don't mind revving and actually make reasonable power. The longer HD stroke produces more bottom end torque but hurts its rev potential a bit.
Someone of here ( guy in the US IIRC ) found the Feroza he'd bought actually had a HC fitted when he tried to change the timing belt. Of course the HD belt was too long and it took awhile to figure it out .

First of all it came up with all 16 valves smashed.
Then we found out that the timing belt wasn't broken but the crank gear was broken.
Thank GOD we found another engine but we tryed to fit a TOYOTA 2.0 crankshaft on the broken engine but no room for it so we decided to put a stock crankshaft and give a brand new re fixed engine.
