Hi how ca you tell if chemiweld has been used on a car?

would it have helped if he asked

your post spamming his one is more counterpruductive than assuming its got nothing to do with a toyota vehicle!


as for the origional question

if it has been applied properly, you cannot tell.
because you flush the system, pour the chemiweld
run it for 20 mins then put the cap back on and run it for a couple of days.
then re flush the system with clear water and put your coolant back in.
its a permanent repair on most cast iron blocks and heads.

on alloy, it lets go quicker if no coolant is used because it corrodes more and expands/contracts if its a crack, it will not last very long either.

but if its a bodgy, coolant will have ared tinge to it ONLY if chemiweld has been used. there are other products which are CLEAR....

you can analyse the coolant, but now yoru getting more technical.

becasue you only need chemiweld if you own a toyota!.. especially a hilux.

the chemiweld tends to discolor alloy parts too, to a reddish brown color like it is acidic. it also has a pretty recognizable odour.

open a bottle at the servo and have a sniff, you will recognise it by smell as soon as you open the radiator cap..

or 10 years of running a filthy system, this is not how you tell and will not tell you if its been chemi welded, above responses are correct.

Agreed. Its certainly not a definitive test.

What makes you suspect it may have been used...???

The red tinge isn't a dead give away either, a mate used to run a red coolant that stained the alloy parts with a tinge of red - can't remember the name of it, his brother worked at a dealership and got it for him...

A fair bit of the holden genuine coolant range is red.
