leaf springs - longer centre bolt

Post by jonamaphone1 »

hey all, im adding a couple of (very very short) leaves to the pack of the back of my hilux to bump up the height to match the front.

what im wanting to know is where i can get a longer centre bolt for the leaf packs.

btw, am i gonna run into any dramas with the handbrake or anything doing this sort of lift?

thanks

Any shop that makes leaf spring packs will have longer centre bolts.
You can also get stronger ones which stop them from bending, but the heads on them are to big for the hole in the spring perch so you'll need to drill them out a touch and grind the heads down a little as they are also to high and hit the diff housing before the spring packs sits on the perch. Since I have been running the stronger bigger centre bolts I have not bent 1.

got my centre bolts from pedders, had to take an old one in as an example so they could match it. cost of new bolts - free

got the ubolts from TJM, they were half the price of pedders (15 each) , made from forged steel and about 10mm longer than what pedders could find me.

you may run into problems with your hand break cable the best thing to do is measure how much clearance you have between your hand break cable and your leaf springs and make sure youdont raise it up to high
