Anyone on this board have a 3.5L Paj?

Post by Grantw »

I am having great issues with aftermarket rims to suit. 15" dont fit due to the front brakes, and my 16x8 from my 3.0L dont fit either.... Whether I have the wrong offset maybe but I was hoping someone on here has bought aftermarkets and can help me out.... At this stage the wheels are going to be dearer than the lockers...!!!!

Thanks for any help...

I've got a '96 3.5 NJ. Never had a problem with rims, currently running 15x8s with 32 x 11.5 tyres. Bob Janes have them for about $50ea. Also run 16x7 rims with 275/75/16s. When I bought it the car had 15 x 6 (I think) with the standard 235s.

Hi Rob, yeah I found out that the front brakes on a NL are much larger than earlier 3.5 & 3.0 V6's. So this is why Grant can't run 15" rims and Mitsu went to a 16" rim.

Grant, I think it will be an offset issue as there are NL's that I know of running 16" ROH rims with BFG muds without any drama's.

Hi Grant,

I run a 97 NK 3.5, which was the first model with the larger brakes similar to the NL, so I also need 16" rims. I run Nissan GU 16" x 8" rims which are a perfect bolt on fit with the correct offset for the Pajero, so they should do the job for you.

As a matter of interest I believe thay they will also fit the NM & NP Pajero which are also difficult to fit with aftermarket rims.

It gets worse and worse doesn't it, apparently the new Prado 120 can only run 17" rims! Great move there, Toyota!
