Rear prop shaft questions

I have drivetrain vibration. The problem is probably related to the angle of the rear prop shaft, because it improves when the vehicle is loaded up for a trip. My mechanic identified that the slip yoke on the rear prop shaft has a fair amount of play in the transfer case output, which probably isn't helping.

Looking at the relative angles of the transfer case output and the rear diff input I think I'll always have vibration problems if I have two unis - so I'd like to know if the CV from the later model prop shaft will fit?

I did some digging in CAPS, and both transfers appear to use the same seal - so it sounds like the outer diameter is the same. Does anybody know if the splines are compatible? Has anybody tried the rear shaft from a 2.8/3.5 shorty into a 2.5/3.0 shorty?

Scott, I don't think they are from memory.
I have the bits at work and will check the spline count to make sure.
In any event you should be able to graft your slip yoke onto the flange of the 3.5/2.8 which bolts to the CV flange.

The CV has less misalignment than the UJ, I think they only came out on the swb. The 3.5 t/c has a larger output spline from memory

Details as follows :-

3.5 V6
front = 27.7mm diameter 26 spline
rear = 31.6mm diameter 30 spline

3.0 V6
front = 25.9mm diameter 24 spline
rear = 28.2mm diameter 26 spline

Conclusion = front and rear slip yokes are different between 3.0 & 3.5 V6 t/cases and cannot be interchanged.
