THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
Not really relevant to topic but for general interest.bogged wrote:Gee, I should speak with Vince off patrol forum. he works for company that makes parts for holden and ford... eg the engine covers and shit..nastytroll wrote:there would be aroung 700kg of alloy steel per mould, and roberly 200 hours each in machine time and labour.
Moulds are very time consuming to make and very labour intensive, and there genuine parts so they can charge what they want.
hes the manager of the tool shop
That was a guess, its been awhile since I was toolmaking, you could ask Vince for a quote n see how far out I am.
For example, I did a mould for the old style arcade machine buttons, it made 4 inners and 4 outers and weighed 500kg. Injection moulds need to be perfect. Nylon will squeeze out a 0.015mm gap.
Back on topic
Run 2 sets of tyres, trailer the offroad set too and from parks ect ad just wing it on local runs. Cheap rubber flares would be ok to keep the fuzz off your back.
gu tyres
Yeah thats prob just about my only option, and i would be very happy to do that but it means every single time i go out wheelin i must retrace the road back to my original spot where i left the trailer its not an offroad trailer just a std old box trailer.
if i do this option i prob wouldnt bother with any rubber guards etc, would look pretty silly when i put the set of road tyres on and theres 3 inchs of rubber flare hanging past the tyre.
Does anyone know what size tyres 99 gu came out with/ or know whats the max legal size and rim offset?
Thanks for responses.
P.S. SEARCH FUNTION SUCKS!! SO MUCH CRAP TO SORT THROUGH TO FIND A REMOTELY RELATED THREAD.

Re: giantracing flares
$1500 can be cheap if it allows you run 37s with a 3 inch lift. The SWB below has that set up.k3lst wrote:im interested in giantracings flares, however no offence mate but thats pretty pricy -1500 for a set of 4 that will be the easiest thing to break on the rig??
k3lst
They are a nice looking flare no doubt about that! The first GQ I had had similar flares...until I got halfway up this deep rutted creek bed where the top of the bank was about mirror height...and ended up with nice fibreglass flares that were demolished on one side The other two were removed and I made 4 new ones out of 8mm rubber

im thinking bout posting a thread on ppls related defect stories, seeing how much the fine is etc, seeing if its worth risking putting them on whenever im going 4x4
pain in the date hole
Re: flares
thread has been done before...k3lst wrote:im thinking bout posting a thread on ppls related defect stories, seeing how much the fine is etc, seeing if its worth risking putting them on whenever im going 4x4
is it worth the risk, well ask your insurance company what they think... unroadworthy is unroadworthy
Grimbo has the answer. spend $500 and get it engineered... or just get different rims.
