Ive got a 351C in my 60 series in straight LPG using Impco gas carb.
It runs perfect all the time except when i first start it up. If you stall the car when it is first starting up it seems to vacuum in the plunger in the carby and its impossible to start. If you manually free the plunger i can get it to start after a bit of stuffing around.
Also when towing the car sometimes decides to stall when coming to a stop and the plunger gets stuck then as well.
Anyone know why this happens? Are Impco carby's crap?

i would say your getting a gas block from your mixer then the plunger is getting sucked. had the same probvlem in my old kingswood ute, ended up being the mixer was running dry of coolent and was freezing up. moved the mixer down 5 cm to keep water in it and never had a problem again.

with no water in the mixer it would freeze up and no gas would get to the engine. the problem was the mixer was to high for coolent to flow before the thermosta opened so it would run away from the mixer then the mixer would freeze. moved it lower and coolent was sitting in the mixer and that was enough to stop it icing up.
next time it does it have a look at the mixer, does it feel really cool to touch? if so that would be your problem i think.
don't know why it would do it if its hot. a good gas place to go to is ace gas in in quenbeyan, just got some work done buy them a few weeks ago and they were great!

just put a belt driven power steer box on it and that will fix it 
aside from that, that top hoes you got, as it sits high may have some air in it, which is getting sucked in to the the mixer.. Only a possibility???

Remove the lid and look for contamination, there is a problem with the B2 converter when the lower gasket leaks, some coolant contamination of the LPG occurs and it forms a hard build up that can cause the seat to leak, generally it is cheaper to replace than rebuild these converters. If you have no build up, just the normal oily ooze then with the lid off and the engine cold (or when it miss-behaives) remove the lid and put soapy water on the seal, if it bubbles you can buy a repacement seat or sometimes you can get away with emerying it as it can form a very hard crust on the surface, just remove the hard crust untill the seat is smooth and soft again.
