Speedo Recalibration.
Speedo Recalibration.
Does anyone know where to get speedos recalibrated for larger tyres fitted to a Sierra at a reasonable cost?
Just posted this in another post, but just for you
Attspeed Auto Instruments
35 Glossop Street ST MARYS NSW 2760
(02) 9833 0055
As mentioned also in the other post, I've used them a few years ago to recalibrate the speedo in a 4.1 cortina with a 5 speed supra box fitted in it. They were pretty good.

Apparently you can fiddle with a screw in your dash that will adjust your speedo to suit any tire size. there was a thread about this somewhere. Not sure if it was on Pirate, Zuwharrie or some other site.
if you have the time why not pull the dash off and have a look. its only a few screws.
Does anyone know the thread im talking about?

$280 will get you a ratio box fitted and calibrated (you can have it adjusted later on if you go up in tyre size) - over at General Auto in Lidcombe.
You'll also get a little certificate to keep in your glovebox.
Don't have the number handy, but they've done my Zooks in the past - great service.

Output shaft of the t-case.
As squik said, the proper way is the get a ratio box made up. On some cars you can swap the speedo drive gear, but not on zooks.

I got clocked @ 87 in 50 recently
Handed my license over and said write me a ticket
The cop freaked out
Cop: "What you not going to argue with me"
Me: "Nah, you got me fair and square with the gun, write me a ticket"
Cop: "Why were you going so fast"
Me: "It's late I've had long day at work and want to get home"
Cop goes back to the car and returns with the ticket
Cop: "You know 30 over is loss of license"
Me: "Yeah where's my ticket"
Cop: "Dude your weird but you seem like a good fella, only done you for 15 over, take it easy"

Get a GPS, go for a drive, take note of the actual speed you are doing for 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90.... ect then ripp the instrument cluster out, take the cover off and write the correct speeds over the top with a label maker.
Actually thats could be alot of effort. And the numbers wouldn't show up at night. Don't worry.

Remember the stickers you used to be able to buy to put over the top of 'milage' gauges that had kilometres on them?
Maybe just grab one of those and once you've worked out speeds on a GPS, just turn it to suit and whack it on
You'll need a ratio box though if you are after engineering in NSW, they don't want to know about you until you've had that done...
