How do I tell if its a 3sp or 4sp auto

Post by madda »

Hi all,

I think my auto problem is terminal, and just looking around for a secondhand auto.

I need a 3sp but am unsure what the tell tale number on the plate is? I rang about. One guy all he could only give me the plate details which are... GM 96014020 UL UNDER HAS D26 3450029 STRAUSBURG

Cheers Matt

I think that one u are looking at is the 3spd as its a GM trimatic box of sorts.

the 4sp is a aisin one AW4.

i may be wrong on both accounts but it sounds correct i have said:)

Yep, that's the three speed.

The tag on the 4 speed reads AISIN-WARNER AW-4XXXX
