Newbie feroza owner with susp question

Post by feroza94 »

Guys I want to raise the front end a little via winding up the torsion bars.
My question is, I have crawled under there and can't see how to wind them up, how do you wind the torsion bars up on the damn thing.

I know I need to get the weight off by jacking up the front end and all.

Any help appreciated.

Oh its a F310 widetrack

Cheers

Easier jacked up but not essential.

at the rear end of the torsion bars, where they fit into the crossmsmber there are a pair of large bolts facing upwards with their heads protruding from the top side of the crossmember ( between the body and x memeber )

They are quite large 23mm ( but don't quote me on that ) big spanner, loosen the locknuts and away you go.

Best to clean the threads of dirt first and a good spray with CRC as well.

And just to repeat Feroza Rule No.1... jacking the vehicle via the torsion bars gives you more clearance but less suspension droop. This will hurt its off road capability - it will lift front wheels and loose traction very easily.
( usual disclaimers )

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Hi Feroza94 - I take you're the same person I was talking to on 4WD Action forums?

Your best bet would be to download the factory workshop manual - that will show it in detail. The manual is for an F300, but that basics are the same. ;)

http://www.warfs.org/content/view/16/47/ - it's a Yank site and the Feroza was called a "Rocky" over there. So grab all the F300, HD-E and "Rocky" stuff.
