Pre-production model manufactured September 1987 (reg. prod. start was Nov 87), TD42, 4 spd manual, manual steering, high roof 8-seater, TJM 75mm coils and shocks, 35x12.5R18 Cooper STT (first pic shows the old Generals), 4,625 gears with rear axle out of a RD28T with disc brakes and 100% locker.
I got it without engine/tranny for a steal, dropping in a Chev/TH700 combo
apparently the United Nations spec gq/gr whatever's, where 4 speed manuels. I have worked on a few high top swb safari's, they are grey imports into Australia and all have been "88/"89 models.
troopy style, along the sides... 3 each side? 2 in front.. ?
Yepp troopy-style, but only japanese might fit

congrats! Nice to see you with another Patrol...
I really like the high-roof shorties myself. It should be sweet with the Chevy engine/gear box. Now just put an Atlas or Stak behind the auto and you can win comps if you want!
Hope I can find one just like it in 2012 when it is time for me to import my first GQ to the USA.
