i am interested in getting an 80series.
I primarily want it for offroad use on the weekend so big lift,big tyres etc
but i want the majority of the work already done.
Looking at maybe spending just over 10k (ino it would be rough but it would just get rougher)
What kinds of mods should i be looking at to make sure it has them and what kind of price should i expect? (would want it to atleast it to have 35's maybe front locker and big lift)
And any particular model,year,transmission,specs?? anything important i should look out for .

what do you want petrol diesel? what kind of driving do you prefer? why BIG lift?? if its going to get roughed around why not keep it as low as possible and cut guards to fit wheels??

im not sure id prob like to go petrol on gas.
i dont want it too rough i dont mind the odd dent or scrape,not a rust bucket shitter tho...
it would be used mainly for rocks and big tough trails i guess..the usual stuff that u get at appin or lithgow.

Petrol gas is ok, you need to keep up with valve clearence checks with is a big job on them, you can fit 35" tyres with a 2" lift as the gaurds on 80's are big.
Think hard about a BIG lift as many of us have taken out big lifts after getting wiser, its a common mistake for newbies to put in a big "fully sick mate" lift based on looks alone. Dont worry I did it too.
Low is the new High.
Be careful with the front diff, ie dont reverse up anything, or snatch anyone out in revere, A diff lock will strengthen the diff centre.
There a good truck with lots of potential.

If its just for offroad use I'd look at a petrol. Cheaper to buy in the first place and its not as if your going to require the range of a diesel. The 1hz without an aftermarket turbo would be hopeless at turning 35s or larger tyres (mine isnt the best with 33's )
