A MUCH easier option would be to add an extra leaf or two to each pack.

Depends on your leaf pack as to which leaf is the easiest to slot in. Which vehicle? You will also need new centre bolts and possibly u-bolts (these are cheap though).

Alternately,
Getting your existing springs reset and tempered shouldn't cost more than $100/pr.

outback suspension @croyden do a conversion if you are near maybe you could see how they do it. you may get some idears from pics in adds in 4wd magazine. (free to look at from public library) If your springs are that worn your bushes are probally stuffed as well checking out resetting might be cheepest 4u :)

Yes, but then you will end up with a dodgy, unroadworthy POS. (not commenting on your fab/welding here - just that what you propose is illegal unless engineered).

Whereas adding a leaf or two to the bottom of your existing springs won't cost much and is perfectly legal.

 Rather you than me mate. I would be adding a couple of leaves or looking for a cheap set of decent springs at a wrecker.

Sorry to hear mate.

Why not do a couple of cash fab jobs on the side for some $$$ (ex doesn't need to know!!!), and buy some springs!!!

There are always people on here looking for weldiong and fab work!

There may even be someone on the nissan forum who will swap springs for welding work!

Extended shackles will work for what you intend to do for a amount of time. But its not a fix..

Off road with shackles and standard springs..The thing may not handle the same and may want to invert the shackle.

Also extended shackles are illegal. Like everything else..meh..

my springs have been inverted b4 so i been told
extended shakles for mq i would need to buy longer pins as they are the steped in type of shakle
i have thought about it tho
if i had a big enough bending machine or press i could make stepped in shakles but thats one thing i dont have access too
i was playin round with the springs last night and it will lift the rear bout 1 and half inches using the coils i have
so goin to try that for now
its mainly to tow the moving tralier
