Air Intake - Removing stock box

Air Intake - Removing stock box
as i have read on WARFS.ORG - You can add a K&N POD Air filter to the Feroza's.
I have a 94 Feroza; With the stockie airfilter all removed. now daihatsu made the ferozas have a "Black Box" just after the main air intake from the engine; I want to remove this to get the true POD Grunting sound which i had in my old N13 Pulsar;
It sounds so much better direct Pod than through the "Black Box" - but the problem is that the black box has two vacuum hoses attached to it.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get around this??

Now you've done it.......
If you take it off road then that's going to be a big mistake. Whilst the stock system is pretty yuck it filters well - which the pod filter most certainly don't.
Been covered in many previous posts in great detail a quick search will turn up pretty much everything thats available.
Still if its a town only vehicle the it would be ok.

( usual disclaimers )
It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

While I chose not to run a K&N pod off road in my Feroza they perhaps don't quite deserve the serving a lot people tend to give them: http://users.on.net/~murcod/Air%20Filte ... %20Out.pdf
You would need to clean the K&N often if used off road, but IMHO the biggest issue would be water crossings and ingesting water. I used one on road around the suburbs and simply swapped back the stock filter assembly if I was going off road.

I'll chime in as well, IF you really want to noticably increase your fuel consumption, decrease what little accelleration and torque the Fez has you could just remove the blackbox and block up the vacuum lines with the right sized screws with a dab of silicon to seal it.bsbotto wrote:yeah i figured..
But the Vaccuum Hoses have to hook up to something..
personally though I'd leave the box in place .. it does make a noticable differance to the performace/ecconomy of these beasties. Ive done this (I bypassed the black box and ran straight to the snorkel once.... Did not like it at all)
however your beastie your call
