cruiser ute fuel economy

I use to drive a 2004 model for work, From Brisbane to Rockhampton (about 650Km) it used about 140L (and yes it was religiously serviced every 5000km) while the D4D Hilux use about 65-70 so they are pretty bad in my Opinion, to put it in another light my 1UZ powered 4Runner would use about 70-80 litres and I CAN overtake in it, in the Cruiser it was pretty scarynd needed alot of planning
if it ain't broke send it to me i'll fix it!
i have a 96 75series ute. I get around the 550 per tank, but mines turbo and thats when i driving it like a soft c#%k. I get about 450 out of a 90 litre tank around town and really giving it to her. I boost mine out to 12 pound so thats where all my fuel goes! But all round i think a good truck, But im a cruiser man.
1996 HZJ75RP, DTS turbo with 3inch exhaust, rear locker, MTZs, 2inch shackles, 2 inch custom packs!
