Its always a "catch 22" with car colours. You really want to have a nice metallic/pearl/candy paint that is bright and stands out, but you know you'll be a complete cop magnet.

On the other hand you can go the boring route with a flat colour (white....), and know that you could paint it yourself, patch it up down the track, wont draw ANY bad attention, but also not really stand out from the crowd.

Don't forget with solid colours, such as white, it's easy to blend a small area thats damaged and buff it out. Where as candy's, metallic, flakes etc are aren't as easy to blend.

A good solid 2K job will last along time and is easy to repair.

My Zuk had several spray can paint jobs. The first was probably the best. it went from a factory yellow to a Rivergum Satin Colorbond paint. Just gave it a basic rub down and wash and used about 4 spray cans. Came up fantastic. Good coverage and had no dramas with it flaking etc.




then I got bored and decided to paint it orange. Again basic prep work and this time used White Knight bright orange and had to use about 10 cans. It didn't work as well, the coverage wasn't as good, hence the nickname The Mango. it was a little ripe in places.



Finally decided to change the colour once again and went with Hammertone Charcoal. This worked really well and looked great I reckon. Only had to use about 5 cans for this job



So I reckon a spray can paint job can work quite well
