designed your own custom bling front bar?

Post by stumped »

am wanting to design and build a bar for my WT sierra... i'm looking for something to replace the factory bumper that doesn't affect my approach angle, won't get in the road of some bigger tyres, can have a recovery point or two, and can hang my loverly lightforce lights and my CB aerial off...

just wondering if anyone's got design pics of a bar they did for their fourby that i can steal ideas from, or photos they can point me to. i'm gonna go trawling thru the members section and the zook section, but any specific help would be awesome.

measurements from a zook bar would be even better if anyone's got em...

cheers!!

yea they are the 7.00 x 16 Firestone SATs. Brilliant cheap tyre that are almost impossible to find. they are the Scanas tyres of our club. I had them from nw for about 4 years, then Paul in the red coily had them for a couple now Christover has them getting towards the end of their life but pretty good for $120 a tyre. Great offroad not too bad on road

Only thing that hangs down is some plastic crap which would be quick to go, but it opens up the wheel well where the air intake is, meaning I might just have to make up a snorkel for it too to stop me injesting water.

Was quite surprised how well the bar fitted. Never thought the Gv would be almost as wide as a hilux. I should really start getting into this project. Got the pipe bender, and a cheap pipe supplier, so only thing stopping me really is time.

Okay, on the theme of custom front bars.

I want to make a nice sturdy one for the Maverick. Something I am trying to suss out is how much space I would need to leave so I have the option, in the future, of a highmount winch.

What kind of area on top of the bar would it take? How far apart would the main vertical bars need to be? Etc.

Cheers,

Jason
