erratic running and dying

Post by AcTioN13 »

ok now this has a few of us stumped, so i thought i might try you guys and see if anyone can enlighten me as to whats wrong.

we have put a VN commodore v6 into an rn105 hilux, using marks adaptors loom and vss. now the problem is that it runs... but when it gets to operating temp, it will start to idle faster and then run erratic and then shutdown.

it wont rev when it starts to run erratic. and the thermo's are constantly on.

can anyone give me any advice on what could be causing this? apart from tearing out the v6 and putting in a 1uz.

cheers

Running the fans full time is a sign it is in limp mode. If you have an engine light connected you can bridge the diagnostic connector and read out codes.

ok now its getting annoying, its no longer in limp home mode, sorted out alternator wiring which was causing the cut out due to power, but its first run today.. i got a decent drive round the blocks, and temp got to halfway, and the motor died again. any ideas? its got me stumped.

i've got a vn that i bought for 300 bucks to drive round whilst moddin the lux and had similar problems. tried to diagnose the problem but no luck so changed a few sensors and still no joy.

i got another computer from the wreckers and just kept it in the car untill it played up again, pulged it in whilst stoped on the side of the road and havent had a drams since

must have been spiked from jumpstarting or something like that
