sway bars
my GQ had a disconnectable sway bar on the front and I left it disconnected one day to see what it was like on the road and it didnt handle any differently so I took it off and sold it.
mine has a factory disconnectable one on the rear, using a handbrake type lever under the dash so its easy to use. havent tried it off on the road yet tho.
If you dont have them, then spend your money on something else more effective like a soft locker or something.

The front sway bar on GU st's and TI's are about double the thickness of GQ's sway barsturps wrote:Are the GU sway bars wider/thicker?
They only aftermarket I have seen for a GU/GQ are the custom ones built for the rear.

They are exactly the same shape just thicker. Will bolt straight on. You just need the d bushs to suit the bigger diameter. They should come with the arms if you ge them from a wrecker. You will also need the link pains as the bolt hole in the sway bar link is differentcun7s wrote:thats what i wanted to now do they fit a gqturbo gu wrote:The front sway bar on GU st's and TI's are about double the thickness of GQ's sway barsturps wrote:Are the GU sway bars wider/thicker?

Thats what I did, removed the front sway bar straight away then tore a link on the rear sway bar one day and drove home like that - it was no different so i removed it completely.dont_follow_me wrote:my GQ had a disconnectable sway bar on the front and I left it disconnected one day to see what it was like on the road and it didnt handle any differently so I took it off and sold it.

1991 GQ TD42 Safari, 5spd, 4" Lift, 35" shovels, Locked & Loaded.
This would be an interesting setup. Rears on Utes are easy to do a basic custom setups using a torsion bar. As there is nothing in the way to interfere. On the front it would be difficult. You maybe able to use a currie anti-rock like they use on a Jeeps. As their setup in front of the axle and work backwards.cun7s wrote: ive got a five link in it ill work it out thanks mate
