Timing marks

Post by zenteren »

I have Nissan Patrol Mk260 series with 2.8 Turbo diesel engine. I wan't to change my timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley. I manage to got all the parts removed grom the engine. I can't find timing markings on crankshaft pulley. Anyone who can explain me how to align timing belt markings I will appreciate that.

There is a notch on the pulleys themselves...which is lined up with a stud on the lhs of pulley when looking at it from the front...about the 2 o,clock position.
This needs to be lined up with no1 piston on BDC (bottom dead centre)
Tis prolly too late now ....but the marks on all the sprockets needed to be lined up BEFORE you removed belt etc.

If you dont have access to a workshop manual....then maybe sumone can scan one and post up the page on timing belt for you (I have manual...but dont know how to scan and post on here)

Cheers Keith

Thank you for your information.
I manage to find marks on the pump pulley and camshaft pulley and aligned them with the marks on the rear behind those two pulleys. The only problem I have is marks on the crankshaft pulley. But I'll try to refer to that 2'o clock position.
