swift tbi conversion

Post by troopy94 »

Ive just picked up a tbi injection setup from a 1.6 swift and the plan is to adapt it to a g13a .So far ive searched and havent been able to find a wiring diagram for this but there seems to be plenty for the vitara tbi. Will this setup work on the g13a and are there anything to be careful of when doing the conversion any help would be much appreciated

the throttle body for the 1.6 swift is twice the size of the 1.6 8 valve. you may find it over-fuels.
here's one on a 16 valve import carby motor.

It does look like a large throttle body and im guessing its from a 1.6 swift as the place i bought it from said its from a swift and the standard computer has 1.6-SPI-MT on it but looking at what they have sent im not sure if it will work as they have just butchered the harness to remove it and the oxygen sensor is from a different car

You will need to make a adapter , I used ally and made it to suit manifold hole to tbi holes , also their will be a distributor mod if you use the original . Will run slightly rich but runs fine , works fine on all angles. You will need to blank up the original fuel pump hole and source a EFI pump , Cheers Paul.

Thank you for the info i havent made the adaptor for the throttle body yet but have the blanking plate made up for the fuel pump and have a vl efi pump as this seems to be what most people are using.I am running a lj80 points distributor at the moment so it looks like i will be off to the wreckers for a standard dizzy or is there another that would not require a mod. I was told it was a easy conversion from the guy i bought it from

hey troopy

i still have a std 1.3 dizzy here spare btw.

VL pump should be fine as far as i know the fuel reg is in the throttle body.

make sure u upgrade the fuel line and the return to handle the pressure.

I just remembered i picked up a 16 valve head from a sierra that that was found burnt out a while ago and the swift manifold bolted straight to it.Im curious to know if the 16 valve head will fit a g13a block. The head has the thermostat housing on the rear if that any help for someone to identify it

sounds like either a swift head or baleno head.

Thats how i did the return on my other zook with the v6.Im not sure really what head it was but im sure it was a 1.3 block because i also grabbed the gearbox and there was no conversion plate on it as the block bolted straight up to the sierra box.Im going to grab my other 1.3 and try the head on that and if all good then just build that motor up and put it in.I will let you know how i get on and if the 1.3 dizzy will fit that head

Check the pistons for valve clearance as the 16 valve has double indent from memory , Cheers Paul.

Ok the harness is ready to be wired into the car and the adaptor is finished but there is a few things that have me worried.does the computer need a coolant temp signal because there doesnt seem to be one on my wiring diagram and where does the lower hose on the isc soleniod valve go to? Any help to sort these out would be very appreciated

hy guys, ivce just started to have a look at fitting mine to my car and was told that the 1.6 manifold would ust bolt strait up to the head and i would be able to use that. after looking at it i noticed that on the 1.6 manifold there is no return for the radiator...i take it thats why i need an adapter plate, is this true?
cheers

Yes , very important , won't run without it , my igniter is attached to the coil , it comes factory mounted to the coil in the swift , so I grabbed the lot , Cheers Paul.
