Improving braking efficieny on Rodeo

Post by rainsey »

Hey all,

One thing I have found with putting bar work, sliders, rear shelving and ... oh... 33's on the Rodeo is that she just does not stop like she used to. More noticable when i swap from the 31's to the 33's.

Have toyed with the idea of a MU or early Jack rear axle with disks but these are as rare as rocking horse fodder. Other than this is there any known tweeks to the braking system to improves its stopping. I have noticed the type / brand of disk pad makes a big change, i.e. going with softer pads.

Ideas like renewed brake lines, new rotors yadda yadda...

Cheers

Maybe try going to a local brake shop? Im sure they would be happy to give you a list of all the upgrades you can do.

Larger disc's and calipers on the front will help as well as "sticky" pads. I think some late Jacks and the RA's have larger front brakes and they should fit straight on but you might need 16" rims.
