Do drop boxes or drop arms req mod plate?
Do drop boxes or drop arms req mod plate?
Looking at fitting either drop boxes or drop arms to my gq 4" lift. Do they require a mod plate?
I'm guessing that as the boxes change the mounting point they most likely would. The arms I'm unsure as they use the original mount.
cheers.

what state? QLD DOT will flat out not approve drop boxes unless you are a sexy blonde with big boobs and are willing to go the distance to get them approved.
drop arms..... last i heard some company had them approved, but it might not be true... call one of the magor suspension places (superior, snake, wizard, etc.)
if in another state, i dont know

The vehicle is Qld registered but will be moving to Vic in the new year so would have to re- register. I also have superior upper and lower rear adjustable arms, superior adjustable draglink and adjustable panhards.
It may be better to run the drop arms as they mount in the original postion and are not as obvious a mod as the boxes.

Re: Do drop boxes or drop arms req mod plate?
Technically in Qld your only allowed 2" spring lift anyway so you dont need either very grey area for mods I'd hate to have an accident and them see mods that aren't dot approved. Really they have the last say and blue plates dont mean there actually legal in all states. Gotta love a country with different laws for every friggin state . That's why rego'ed, insured comp truck are a joke! M2Ceighty8 wrote:The vehicle is Qld registered but will be moving to Vic in the new year so would have to re- register. Well i asked around at a couple of place's today and each place was not interested in looking at drop boxes because of the idea of shifting the mounting point. But the arms would not be an issue as they use the original mount. So arms it will be. Probably go Big O arms. Read alot of positive feedback on them.

I went through Atol Aircraft Engineering owned by Don Phillips in Garden Suburbs (near Newcastle). He passed my lift which is a 7" sus with Snake Racing arms, King springs that sux and Dobinson shocks) as well as Wranger 35" MTR's on 15*8's and home made sliders. Engineers aren't that scary i found out if you have done the job right and not done the close your eyes and it will be ok job, brighty wrote:Which engineer did you go through???MyGQ wrote:In NSW you need mod plate for Drop boxes and Drop arms, as 4" or above needs engineering
