Hi all,
I know its been covered 5 million times about lift and tyres.
But, nearly always people do a body lift as well as spring lift as well as trim guard to fit 35"'s
(Series I Disco, 97/98 model if that makes much difference)
So does anybody know what the largest tyre you can fit with just a 2" suspension lift, and maybe flares/trimming.
Can 33"'s be done ?

no lift as yet. Open to surgestions but OME seems to be popular (setup fairly heavy as its a tourer type car)
No tyres yet.
No rims yet. Currently has steel rims (being a basic S model)
So i dont even have any idea of rims but figured some good retailer could help me out. Was going to go visit locky for sure.
I just dont want the thing to high, high enough already that it wont fit in a fair few car parks. And as it will be also used for high speed towing want it stable as well. But do want a bit of axle clearance for the fire trails etc that usually make up my off road adventures.

Problem with Disco's with bigger tyres 33's & up(even smaller tyres (245/75/16) is catching the rear of the rear gaurd,a body lift will help cure this problem or as alot has suggested trimming the rear gaurds.
You have heaps of Rangie specialists in Melbourne and alot of lifted Disco,s down there talk to the shops do your home work and then pick what suits you best???
And as alot of people have said speak to Jason at Pro Comp,Pete or Chippa at AMV they have been there done that

Like i said with just 2" spring lift you gonna HAVE to trim the guards.... and you will still scrub in places.
With 2" Spring lift and 2" Body you Will fit 35s but you still gonna have to trim the guards and your still gonna rub.
Scrub can be minimised and turning circle can be made slightly better with the correct wheels to suit. But IMHO you gonna lose alot of turning circle with 35s.

I have 255/85R16 (33.2") cooper ST's fitted on 130 rims on my 3 door disco.
The car has no flares or body lift and about a 2" spring/spacer lift.
I had to cut the rear of all 4 guards, and do a bit of rubber mallet work on the front of the rear guards.
You are going to have trouble with rear door clearance. Either move the rear axle back or fit flares and cut the door.
I'm in Melbourne as well and you are more than welcome to trial fit the tyres. I can also lend you the tin snips to do the adjustments.

I think the difference in the answers you'll get (are getting) are dependant on "HOW WELL CAN I FIT THE BIGGEST TIRES"...
You can fit 44s on a Disco if you want with 2" Suspension lift, but that'll work like crap...
OR...you can do it the CORRECT way and get the MOST out of your suspension without having any issues...

Before I did this my tyres fouled. Now there isn't really any way that you can foul on the rear of the wheel. The clearance inside the arch will be the next problem.

Not needed. If you look under the rear wing there is a single nut - behind the mudflap. Undo this, install a 1 inch by 1 inch by 1 inch Z bracket to space the wing out. This leaves enough room for larger tyres to move up without fouling. Somewhat less permanent than cutting.

Just i find i hit just about everything on the diff etc with the small tyres, something a bit larger just gives that little extra clearance. (If only i could get the rear departure angle anything like as good as my GU i used to own)
And yep they look good... i do care about that as well.
