no spark after body lift + tfer stick not working

fitted new 2 inch body lift last night and after id finished it wouldnt start. it isnt getting spark. could this be the car earth not earthing through the body lift blocks?

or you have knocked a wire off when lifting the body. Re check all of your wiring to make sure nothing has been disconnected

check from dissy to firewall, normally some earth wires around that area. With stanard wiring this is normally not an issue but things get changed from time to time

yea. it was 3 am when we gave up last night. it also sheared the front left body mount bolt off as it was rusted in and had ta hack the bottom nut off. but apart from that the lift is shmick as. car looks a bit more proporsional now. thanks mate

Check your coil connections (coil is on the firewall on the passenger side of the dizzy). Pulled the 12v feed off mine when I did the body lift - just had to loosen the loom up a bit and it popped back on. Can't remember exactly what was holding it down and putting tension on the plug... might have been a plug onto the gearbox or the oil sensor?

yep was a little wire that clips onto the coil.
but now i cant use low 4.
i have cut the metal out for it to work but the rubber boot doesnt let it go in. what is the solution to that?

Did you cut the tunnel or the steel ring, boot retainer. Cut about 5mm out of the retainer as this will allow the boot to flex out of the way.

i have cut 5 mm out of both. the rubber boot seems to just get in the gap. is there any diff between nt and wt in this area?

No.

Cutting the shroud and tunnel has worked for the eleventy cars I've BL'ed.

Unless you have a bent transfer case mount. It's the easiest way to tell a mount is bent for our cars. I'd check the long mount is straight.

Or a bent stick - Maybe try and bend the stick forwards a bit more...

i think you got the rubber boot on the wrong way around

turn 180 degrees and try again. ive done this and it kept pulling it out of 4L into neutral

its not a coily is it? cos min had a inner liner in the boot which had to be taken out, and also had to cut some out of the tunnel and some out of the metal ring that goes over the edge of the boot, i also drilled the holes out that don't have the thread so i could move the hole boot up a bit more, also when i did up the screws i left it in 4l.

when i done my body lift it tore a wire to the coil out of its crimp teminal resulting in no spark etc.could be the same for you

I had no prolem with the transfer when I did my body lift But I also pulled the wire of the coil :oops:

you have knocked off the earth wires on the rear for sure also the coil wires
replace them it will start

:rofl: Sounds like we all have the issue with the coil wires pulling off.

With the transfer boot, I had to remove the entire front edge of the retainer. If you just notch it 5mm or so like the tunnel, the rubber itself will keep pulling it out of 4L. Just cut that entire side off the retainer which will give the boot all the flex it needs and stop it pulling out.

simple fix is just to raise the transfer up an inch and problem solved.

i just replaced the transfer boot with one out of a 60 series crusier, its a softer/thinner rubber so it doesnt knock it out of 4L

I didnt pop the coil wire off.

Because it didnt have a coil, or even a motor at that stage :finger:

Also tranfer was fine for me. Yes it had a transfer :D

I now have a 2" lifted transfer anyway, so its normal size stick :D
