Hilux Rig

Post by pig_box »

Hey fellas. I got an old Hilux. Its got a 84 cab and a 1979 motor in her. Just wondering what the normal fuel consumption is. Like out of a full tank?? At the moment she is only doing 320 - 350 at the most on 33s.
Just wondering if this is normal?? AND could it be from the bigger tyres?? And any recommendations to get more kms..???

Cheers :)

how big is the tank is the other question??

and when you give kms, you should give litres too. i mean some people drive it to empty others refill at 1/4 etc.

cheers

Yeah. I had (still have it, but with different motor now) an 81 lux ute with 18R motor (2L Petrol). Was thirsty. Only got about 350 - 400 Km's per tank
Think the tank was a 55L.

Whole things now going buggy with VN V6, Auto etc.

hey mate, i have an 83, diesel tho, 2.4, not sure on the tank but i fill up at about 1/4 and it takes about 30 - 35 litres and i will get about 400klm out of that if i drive it gently, keeping it under 2500 rpm. i also run 33s by 12.5s.

my old hilux was a 79 with a 18r, my current one is a 79 with a 308 in it, the 308 is way better on fuel than the little 18r was because its only running at about a third throttle at 100kms instead of trying to push pedal through the floor like you have to with the 18r's
both hilux's running straight gas
both running 32"s

my old petty hilux used to get 13-15 L per 100K so 300km out of 45L.

another thing is my fuel gauge said empty when it was still half full.
