Aurion v6 in sierra
I haven't looked up the torque/HP numbers to compare, but I was watching a video of a yamaha rhino side by side with an R1 engine in it. It's on youtube, I think search for R1 Rhino.
Anyway, it sounded awesome and clearly made "enough" power, but there's some footage in dunes and even with tiny, light tyres (by 4WD standards) and 2WD, it didn't really have great torque - it was bogging after gearchanges and kinda seemed like it was struggling.
Before anyone watches the vid and says "yeah but that dune was at least 1100degrees steep etcetc" I know, I know... but based on the weight of the car and the available traction, I didn't think it would be bogging at all.
It really does highlight the importance of torque.
Steve.

Not trying to be negative here but if you have been "building for a while" yet have no engine, gearbox or diffs (so by default, no suspension either), what have you been building in all that time? or like me, have you been spending a lot of time in your "virtual workshop"s3111107@ wrote:Have been building up a 97 sierra for a while, now its time for an engine.
Peter.
Cable bracing is the way of the future!

Yeah it has been on and off the road not just in the shed, it was a wreck when i got it, rolled and burnt out a bit. It firstly was going to be a farm hack but i liked driving it to much, so I restored it back to completely stock with a slight body and suspension lift. been playing around with the cage and bar work a fair bit lately, then my farm lux donated its diffs so been fitting them up myself. Talking about buggies with my mate inspired the engine question its still running the original. I have spent alot of time in the virtual workshop also but the main thing slowing me down is writing my phd (i know wank) and the fact that im a little lazy and in know rush as i have a nice everyday driver.
Whats the brake???????????????
or better yet, get a hilux and do a sierra body conversion ahahhar0ck_m0nkey wrote:And for all that effort, just buy a Hilux and do an engine swap.Wrench_Pilot_86 wrote: i say forget the aurion and find a 4.0lt wrecked lux and swap everything over get a front and rear axle outta an older lux cause the new axles are wider,
is it this the same trophy truck http://digiads.com.au/car-news/images/2 ... -img_0.jpgs3111107@ wrote:thanks for the replys, i think! true i didnt think about this to much at all. I came back from a mates place who runs an aurion twin turbo v6 in his buggy well worth 60k an engine (so im told) and though how cool would a stock one be in the siera. He also offered me an engine at a good price. I though about it up to the point where i know holden v6s and autos have been done so how much more work would this be. I've put chevs in rangies and understand the messing around it takes to get things right. I already have lux diffs ready to go in. It might be expensive but I was planning on keeping it and enjoying it.
if so that is a weapon 250kph of dirt is awesome the amount of power that makes is impressive those motors cop a crap load of abuse over there life
rear quarters are evil and must be punished with rocks
