Im about to move to Albury in NSW but Ill be working in Victoria. Now the question that I arise is should I get my car rego in Vic or NSW? Which state is more open to modifications? My truck has already been engineered in QLD! The Mods arnt huge but are as follows-
SWB Patrol cut down to ute
2 inch body lift
Racing seats
Turbo
Steering wheel.
With road worthys does the vehicle need to go over the pits every year? Can any one in the area point me in the right direction to talk to an engineer?

Mate of mine is going through this at present with an old EJ holden he bought in QLD, Lives in Wadonga , EJ registered with mods in NSW.
He needed to have it inspected for transfer to Vic rego and they have told him it needs to be re-engineered in Vic due to the mods done to it even though it is engineered in NSW.
For now he is leaving it as a NSW regoed vehicle due to cost of engineering.
(He has a NSW address as well)
You need a Vic address to register it in Vic.
But once this obsticale is over come he says Vic rego is better for him as NSW requires a roadworthy every year unless it is a new vehicle.
You wouldn't be moving down to work on the new rail link would you.

I bought a ute that had been engineered in nsw and i lived in victoria. I just got myself a roadworthy certificate and took it to vicroads with the engineers report from nsw and they were more than happy to rego it as long as the engine numbers matched my paperwork. In vic you dont need to get pink or blue slips each year for your rego renewals as you do in nsw.
