1982 Sierra rear seats?

Hey guys, I recently got a Sierra 1982 and it only has 2 seats.

Is this normal? Can i put rear seats in somehow?

I'd really like to have some rear seats if possible.

Yes it is normal - there were some lower class models sold without rear seats (just like some models have carpet and some have vinyl).

Yes you can install a rear seat into it - the holes should already be there in the floor. You will also need the bracket that the seats clip onto at the back (on the floor), and naturally - a couple of seatbelts

Fair call - it would be a good idea to check out the ID plate on the firewall - that will say how many passengers the car is allowed to seat.

Well my model came with carpet but no rear seats. I'll have a look underneath the carpet for the mounting holes

Ill check the "ID plate" for seating capacity, if its only 2 i'll get my dads engineer friend to have a look at it

10 bucks says that either the carpet was added or the back seat was removed by the previous owner of the car

Well the carpet definately looks standard, so maybe seats were taken out.

I also have another question, my 4wd gearstick doenst have any markings on it so i dont know what the positions do? Can anyone tell me which positions do what?

Looking at the shifter from above facing the front of the car - i think it is as follows:

Upper left is 2wd
Lower is 4wd high
Middle Right is neutral
Upper Right is 4low

Close to the handbrake end.. technically it will be lower right, but there really isn't a left and right at the handbrake end is there - it's just a centre position i think.

If you take the 2 seater to Vicrogues you can get a "G" clasification on your rego which entitles you to park in loading zones without any signwriting on your doors, if it is a soft top they will call it a ute, and if it is a hard top they will call it a van, and there is no charge to get the goods clasification (amazing ).
When you are done, take it home and put the back seats in

I think (from a Vicroads point of view) that having your car classified as a "G" (or at least non-passenger vehicle) also gets you some cool allowances for things like exhaust, engine mods etc... i.e. you can get except from rules to do with EPA regulations, exhaust cats etc...

I wouldn't know about all that shifty stuff Greg as my car is 100% legal except for the chrome scull gear knobs and the lucky dice valve caps
