fitting inj pump 4jb1t

Post by rechid »

90 jack injector pump 4jb1t
old engine went terminal, only 290 th k's.
new long motor acquired ( in box from qld ).
does anyone know the proceedure for fitting the inj pump to the new motor ( supplier tells me engine should be @ tdc ). The pully marks are at the indicator but the cam timing marks ( thru view ports say yy )
it is a gear drive timing

Aligning the timing marks is only part of it. You really need the dial indicator/timing tool that fit into the rear of the pump to set the timing.

Check the balancer for true TDC. They can, and do, slip giving a false TDC indication.

From memory, timing specs is .5mm @ 12' BTDC

cheers for the reply Rick
the prob I'm having is actually fitting the pump to new engine, before I can time it.
The time mark thould read ( o thru cam view port - I think ) but reads yy which is the initial set-up mark, leaving no indicator to fit pump into new motor ( thru inj side view port )
I,m hesitant to remove pully and cover from new motor but if that is required so be it
