Sierra steering arm dampener bracket

hey all,

Yesterday during some awesome wheeling I managed to break the bracket that attached the steering arm to the dampener.

I want to know if they can be purchased from Suzuki (or after market but I doubt it), and hjow it could have broken?

It is up pretty high, so I don't know that anything could have hit it - I have SPOA, plus OTT steering - Since fitting the OTT kit, I have noticed that I have tighter steering now, I wonder if the dampener was too short and ripped the bracket apart...

Anyway, thanks for whatever help is forthcoming.

My guess is it's a combination of the RTC steering damper and the dropped pitman arm forcing it to twist.

No, the OTT steering kit won't be making any difference- that's downstream of the damper.

PS RTC dampers bring the suckage - now we can possibly add another downside to the list including being responsible for global warming, the Howard government and the price of fuel. :D

A steering system that doesn't need a damper is better again ;) But Yes, I think a functioning, stock damper is better than an RTC damper, but doublyespecially in your case as I think part of the issue is your dropped arm is trying to twist the RTC damper (which the spring is fighting) as you are steering, loading up the bracket.

Yeah my steering is pretty good - the draglink is dead level with the tierod, which helps.
I also recall that the RTCD was wanting to twist a bit, as the pitman arm is at a different angle than the damper/chassis mount.

Is it roadworthy not having it on?

I have a drop pitman and an RTC but don't have any dramas like that, although mine is set so the spring is a little loose so it can probably twist a bit anyway (if that makes sense).
