Trepadors on a Bobcat???

Drove past a bobcat on a truck this morning, and itr had Maxxis Trepadors!!!

Do they make a bobcat tyre? Or was this thing running 4x4 tyres?

Maxxis make all sorts of tyres.

I have Maxxis on my Bobcat, but they are proper bobcat tyres. I have seen people run BFG A/Ts on Bobcats before. Personally I would not do it for a number of reasons like, they are not load rated to take a bobcat and they are barely strong enough for driving/wheeling let alone skid steering over concrete edges/tree roots/stumps and all the other stupid shite you drive over with a bobcat.

And the proper bobcat tyres are a fraction of the price of Trepadors. My tyres are on 23" and they retail at $180 each, which I thought was farkin high. Ended up getting them for $118 each.

Yeah the bigger Bobcats have quite big tyres.

Mine is only 1m wide so the tyres are only 23" on 12" rims.

what makes it a 4x4 tyre?

Id suggest the bobcat owner had a rim that could take that size tyre, and he went to the tyre dealer and said he wants a good mud tyre.

also depends on what sort of work the bobcat was doing, no point having a mud tyre on the cat if your going over places where you dont want to dig up the ground, few of them also run slicks, yet i dont see them going around the track

I've worked with a bobcat operator who had light aircraft tyres (no tread what so ever) on his bobcat. They were like great big balloons. By far he was the best performing bobcat in the sand, and in Perth sand is pretty much everywhere (with a bit of limestone thrown in too).

Yeah I've seen bobbats with BFG Muddies fitted as well. Might be a common thing?

its quite common for bobcats that work only on concrete to run HT 4wd tyres/bald/low traction tyres as they skid steer better on hard firm surfaces, but treps? maybe he bought them through his company (tax deduction) for his 'bobcat' (actually 4wd) and decided to give em a crack on the bobbie

That's what I thought... Especially given that Perth is sand, sand and sand...

They were half worn (looked about 33"). Maybe he buys tyres for his bobcat, and installs them after they have been "run in" on his 4x4

most of the bobcats I deal with at work ether run a 10-16.5 or 12-16.5 so finding something in a 16.5" tyre might be harder than you think..

Sure Maxxis make tyres for just about everything, but trepadors are not (intended to be) Bobcat tyres - so I was surprised to see them.

They also don't come in 16.5" AFAIK.

most of the bobcats I deal with at work ether run a 10-16.5 or 12-16.5 so finding something in a 16.5" tyre might be harder than you think..

Some Bobcats obviously have 15" rims, and treps come in 15" sizes.

Maxxis is the classy name for Cheng Shin Tyre.
I've been riding around on those for almost 30 years.

CST make specialized bike tyres too. You'll notice the similarities in some tread patterns.

Ironically, a mate in the US was telling me about the hottest selling maxxis mtb tyres ever, highrollers in 2.1".
But when they sold out they couldn't get any more. Turns out they were counterfeit, maxxis never made highrollers that size.

That was before I went to 24" and run Nokian Gazzaloddis in 3" wide
