Had a pretty productive weekend, made up the my new ramp and dropped the rear diff out of the surf ready for 'The $hit'.
Specs on the ramp -2500 long - 1250 high = 30 degrees It's all 40x40x5 angle with a few of the side supports being 40x8 flat bar. it needs at least one more support in the center as it bowed a bit with the full weight of spazbot's old man's 80 on the unsupported part. [thanks jimbo ] . hehe, just kidding  Thanks must also go to danstoyowagon for helping with lining up and measuring the ramp, my arms are only so long. A $20 sprayjob finished it off nicely. Cheers, Jeremy
If it was my ramp i would also add some angled support from the very top out to those outriggers because there is a lot of pressure being placed on that ramp sideways and after a few rigs have driven up it i doubt those outriggers will hold up.
Thanks tony....that was actually part of the plan but i ran out of angle and didn't want to make it out of flat bar as it can still bend pretty easy. Tailshaft should be sweet, will probably need to extend this one anyway.
I don't have any before shots sam It's had no fuel tank for 3 weeks now so i couldn't do much more.....i know i probably should have the tank in by now but it's the last thing on my list really.
Spewin....i hadn't even thought about that, i've got plenty of shots from menai so i'll just go to all those same shots and just go further i guess.
From memory it was about 18cm's off ramping a 44 gallon drum before, not sure how high that is though, it'll piss it in when the back's done.
Nice work. You just need more bracing both to the outriggers and to triangulate the ramp down to the base and it will be much more rigid. I would also weld some 50 x 10mm bar on edge (like a stiffening flange) down under the angle along the ramp edge (Where Spaz's front tyre is sitting) otherwise the ramp will start to sag.
Yeah we know about all the extra supports and stuff now.... we used up every scrap of steel (apart from some sixty side steps and some cr-mo trailers) but we thought it might have done the trick, but we know for next time now. Stupid big fat 80's!!!!
I am at the Library using this puter, and am about to be kicked off, so I will see if I can sneak this question in here..... just double checking that I can swap my diffs front to back in the sixty ?? Cheers. Dan
He just means the centers ruff ?! Welded is putting a bit too much pressure on the bent housing etc and he's sick of changing busted axles. At least that way he'll get good at changing c.v's too !!
