Fitting New Fuel Tank

A couple of years ago I converted my 100 series landcrusier to LPG. I ended up getting two 45lt tanks mounted to the chassis rails on each side so I could keep my sub tank and also keep the spare wheel under the rear.

The above set up has caused a problem though, I can not get side rails installed because the tanks are in the way of the mounting points on the chassis. I have had a couple of close calls with damaging the sills so have decided to get a rear mounted LPG tank which will mean that I need a rear bar to mount the spare and I will also lose my sub tank.

The rear bar is no problem (but expensive). I am however concerned about the sub tank removal. Doing this reduces my petrol tank capacity by about one third. I have looked into larger tanks but they all seem to mount where the new LPG tank needs to go.

My question is does anyone make a larger replacement tank that replaces the main fuel tank on a 100 series. If not is there someone that could make a custom tank at a reasonable price.

Short answer is yes
2 mates are about to add longrange tanks to their cars.
IIRC one is replacing the main with a unit that leaves not enough room
for the spare. IIRC the other is replacing the sub only and keeping the spare in place. Unsure of what brand either are but will find out
and post!

My problem is that I can not use any tank that uses any of the space currently filled by the sub tank or spare tyre. That space will be used by the new LPG tank. Unless I missunderstand your post the first tank you mention uses some of the space from the spare tyre area. So can't use that one as my LPG tank will be there. The second one you mention replaces the sub tank. Once again no good to me as the sub tank space will be replaced by the LPG tank.

Only looking for a tank that replaces the main tank and uses the little room around the main tank to increase capacity.

Spoke to long range automotive and they do a main tank replacement for $1045. Replaces the 90lt tank with a 150lt tank. Link to there site Welcome to Long Range Automotive

Anyone used these before. Quality any good, had any problems?

Could you use the mounting points on the inside of the sill and plate the full lenght to spread the strenght, and the make up some sill protection from the plate. It will not be as strong as chassis mounted but better than the alloy factror steps.
