I have just fitted a second hand gearbox and transfer case to my full time 4wd 80 series.
The new transfer case jumps out of high range frequently and when it is engaged there is a loud whining noise. The noise is consistent with speed, not revs, so I'm expecting it's in the transfer case and not the gearbox. This noise disappears when I put the transfer case in neutral (or when it jumps out itself).
The car has no body lift and shifters do not foul on body.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
Ben
