body lift for 1.6L conversion
body lift for 1.6L conversion
Hi all,
I've been searching through the bible but keep getting conflicting answers for this.
Do i need a body lift to fit a 1.6L 8v engine to my sierra? I currently have the 1.6L installed and a 3" body lift but i want to take the lift out to lower COG (i also have a SPOA) will the engine clear or do i need a small lift? have read that atleast 1" is needed but also read people have done it without one.
cheers

2 inchs will be enough
i had the conversion done a few months ago
got away with 2 inch body lift
they modified my sump and pickup and all fits fine
my extractors cleared and the air intake on the vitara just hits my sound deading on the inside of my bonnet
but that dosent bother me.
good luck

1.6 carb u can get away with just spacing the bonnet up at the back to clear the carby hat.
also depends on how high the motor is sitting.
mpfi then yes 2" for the inlet manifold. or heavy massaging

mine had no BL and no bonnet spacing.
the drivers side mount was a bit lower from memory. it was a bolt in job, like flat bar then the engine mount. instead of the raised bit for the engine mount nut to clear the bracket on the chassis rail, the engine mount was bolted to the flat bar and a clearence hole put in the mount on the chassis for the nut to fit into, then the flat bar was bolted onto the original mount on the chassis.
if it doesn't make sense then ill look for a pick of it! if I have one
