best box for a 308 in a 83 hilux???

Post by megabuff »

been doing a search on this and my head hurts :?

anyone with actual knowledge or experience in this, can you please tell me the the V6 box is anygood? and if it is can i jist use the chain drive transferr case (happy with the gearing on the stanard gear driven case at present).

some say the supras or the dynas are bullet proof but other say they have broken them!

mt standard box irs a bit noisy, want reliablitiy without spending megabucks!

If you have the V6 R150 then you are home and hosed as they are more than strong enough for a V8.

The chain transfer is also fine.

The basic Supra W series boxes are no where near as strong as an R series. The twin turbo Supra uses an R series :D , ie R154.

Also the Dyna is stronger BS flying around is just that, as they are an R series with a cast casing, ie no difference except for gear ratios.

I've run an R154 with chain transfer for the past 8 years and my V8 probably has a lot more grunt than your 308 :D. There are many others with V8's using the R series.

As above it's common knowledge that the R150 series is built more than tuff enough for a standard or tuff 308.

Easy way to tell if it is an r series is to look at the drain plug

r series drain plug screws in from the side Gseries up from under
