Hi all,
was wondering what is the easiest way to pull out an engine in a 93 auto Pajero (6G72). I am just replacing the engine and not the gearbox.
I guess there are two real options:
- Pull the engine and box together
- Pull the engine by itself
Anyone got any suggestions? Looking at the bellhousing bolts it could be quite a squeeze to undo them.
Cheers,
Richard

Easiest way to replace a 3.0l in a 93 Pajero

I have pulled the 3 litre out of an 88NF and a 92NH. Both times engine only. The extra work to pull the whole lot would be way harder than getting to those top bell housing bolts. Both times I have done it lying on the floor with not hoist. Yes it's a tough job but it builds character.
92 NH Pajero, MQ Patrol 50mm lift. One has custom rust, dents & rattles, the other has a blown engine.
the top bolts on mine (NH V6) were torqued up by superman, so i ended up making a simple device that consists of a 200mm long piece of steel tube that fits tight over the handle of a breaker bar, then weld a nice big steel handle on it out of scrap tube, so that the handle protrudes up through the engine bay. Then you put your 17mm socket and breaker bar on the bolt head, slide your new tool over the breaker bar handle and then give it heaps. It took about 10mins to make the tool and then 30secs to get the bolt loose, after about 2hours of grappling with ring spanners etc and breaking 1 spanner and 1 socket (cheap one tho). the access in these engine bays is miserable - typical of any V6 car designed to take a 4 cylinder too!
