maintance question

Post by Reddo »

Looking for advise really

I bought a built efi 4.2 turbo petrol, However, im looking to see what others use regarding,

1) The type of Oil i should use in it, and how often i should change it,
(i run a vl and i use mobil fully synthetic oil - should i stay with this?)
2) Spark plugs, and how often should i change them
3) Is there anything else i should watch out for with the efi motor? Is there any common problems with them?

cheers guys, its just an open question, and if you have any other advise regarding the motor, chuck it up

Mobil full synth is rubbish, one of the worst oils on the test bed and the second highest price, in actual fact Valvoline semi synth out performed it in every way and only cost $35 a bottle lol.

With that said best oil is amsoil, they make a 20-50 in full synth, It exceeds oil standards by so far its not funny, filter wise run the Purolator PL series if you can find it. Other Oils that did well were Penrite full Synth and Royal Purple.

Amsoil is hard to get mine comes from the importer, my mates family brings it in....you can get it from their website but Its retail prices. Also should mention they make very good filters, pricey though.

The other ones I named are from your local spareparts type places, and yeah mobil 1 is and will always be more about the marketing than the product quality.

1) 20w/50, Best i used was Valvoline when i had mine, change the oil and filter very 10,000K's

2) Plugs should be changed every 20-40,000K's

3) The plugs on these (5 and 6) are pigs to replace, so have fun.
