80 series front wheel bearings

I was just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with a full time 4wd 80 series breaking the front bearings. I am running 33inch MTR's for road tyres and 37's for in the bush. A few people have said that the tyre size could be a problem, I have just done my third set of bearings in just over 12 months.

I've never heard of that before but I guess anything is possible given enough strain and stress. I run 285/75/16s and have done so for years without any issue. Mates have run 36's for years on their 80's and never had any problems and another guy I know runs 33 x 13.5's on 10 x 15 rims with huge offset and never had any problems either.

Maybe some more info might help. Are you using quality bearings? Are they correctly tightened/tensioned? How hard are you driving it with the 37's fitted? What offset on the rims? Any other relevant info?

Are you doing a lot of mud?

Are you doing them up properly?

Are you cleaning them out after mud?

What offset are your rims?

Ive never heard of it as a common problem. 37s arent that big on 80 diffs.

thanks for your response guys. everyone is now pointing to water, offset on the rims which i'm not to sure wat it is and or maybe the tensioning of the bearings. We are going to try and get all the best gear that can be bought this time and check them all the time to see if and when they are coming loose.

Check your spindle and hub where the 2 seals run they may have grooves worn in them if this is the case price around for new ones seen some cheap ones on ebay mine failed about 2 months after being at fraiser for a week so water/dust is the biggest killer of them as i found my spindle and hub to be badly grooved.
