coil springs for camper
im in the process of building a camper trailer running independant coil suspension, i just wanted to know what sort of coils to run, the camper will be on the heavier side, ive got some rear coils out of a 05 corolla which look good size whys, but i dont think they will handle the weight? i want something that is easy to find, not custum made stuff
Unless you know what the final laden weight will be, you will find it almost
impossible to source the correct spring.
Unless you have tech support coming from someone in that trade.
Which by posting a Q here means you dont.
Go and visit some builders of similar CT's and seek some advice.
Other option is build it with the springs you have then correct them
once completed/ loaded!
Cheers

When I made my independent suspension I used the same springs Kimberley use but the rate was too heavy for my trailer.
Went to a suspension specialist who recommended a pair of King Commodore rear progressives, he gave me a set to try and they were just right. Not sure of the part number but can find out.

I bought my camper trailer with independent coil suspension from a place called Streamline Trim at Beerwah. He is an agent for a trailer manufacturer on the Sunshine Coast and he does the canvas work. He is on the corner of Steve Irwin Way and Roys Road (I think) in a small indusrial estate. The guy's name is Brad and the number is 5494 6722. Go and have a look at his offroad trailer. Mine is behind my 100 series and I have just returned for Birdsville and the trailer didn't miss a beat. It followed the 100 on every road and track we went on without me even realising that it was there, and we travelled at a fair pace (the others with me asked me to slow down of development roads!).
You might be able to get an idea for your trailer from there.

commadore springs work great but yes progressive rate
i used to build these things mor leaf sprung then indipendant
but coomys work fine
if it is a lil too heavy the trailer that is just go for a falcon of the older variety
the oldest you can find with coils
we used commy ones so not sure bout the falcon
im just guessing as the fords are lil heavier

go commo springs, plenty of different options in terms of height/ spring rate/ manufacturer etc etc. by far the easiest to get replacements if u break one and cheep as chips! i got a vr wagon set and vn sedan set u can have! i think the wagon was country pack so higher ride height. got a cat back wagon exhaust system that has to go with the springs
