GU Coil Cab Purchase Questions

Post by noodle »

Hey All.Finally bitten the bullet and am in the market for a GU Coil Cab 99 / 02.Had a look at one the other day that was well priced however it had been leaking oil from this sleeve (see below)

if they had given it a clean you wouldnt notice it but there is quite a lot of dust around it. Is this a common problem ? could it cause any problems to the engine ?

Cheers

I'd suggest a turbo problem. Check intake lines and internals of turbo for "blow by" i think it's called... Basically oil getting into the air intake from the oil cooling the turbo somehow. Not good. Common on the 3L's but shouldn't be on the 4.2...
GU 4.2 TD Garrett BB Hi-flow, M8274 + Bells & Whistles with plenty of fruit still on the list!

sounds like there is oil getting into the intake sumwhere. there will be soem oil in there anyway fromt eh crankcase breather, but shouldnt be to much. where the hoseclamps on that joiner hose tight?

if so, the oil would most probly be from either the turbo seals or to much engine blow by, but being a td4.2 i would hope it has not got blowby problems, how many kms are on it?

TD42s are notorious for blowby... its normal, if you find one that has NO oil residue, call me, ill buy it.
turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
