1hd-ft wiring diagrams?
I am after wiring diagrams for a 1hd-ft in a 80series mainly in regaurds to the preheat system but would like all other engine related wiring diagrams, is there any where on the net that has these? Have tryed my local Toyota dealer and they have be loaned out and not returned, then also there no longer available to purchase.

Go here : http://forums.bauchan.org/portal/downloads.php?dcid=17 and download the whole manual. It has pre-heat fault finding. I just looked at it as I have downloaded it. Its about 36Mb.
GO the 80...The mods have started :-)
the best thing you can do with the preheat system on a 1HD-FT is throw it away. mostly it is just an intake restriction. The engine does not need it to start, even in subzero temperatures. It is allegedly an emissions device however the difference is almost immesurable and the engine is compliant without it.
if you have starting issues, the problem lies elsewhere. possibly injectors.

yes i do have starting issues as i have converted a 4.5 petrol 80 series to 1hd-ft and have somewiring issues to sort out as the harness supplied has been cut and there appears to some stuff missing like the glow plug relay and other things. so i really need a toyota wiring diagram.dumbdunce wrote:the best thing you can do with the preheat system on a 1HD-FT is throw it away. mostly it is just an intake restriction. for a 1HD-FT to start, all you need is 12v at the fuel shutoff (round, vertically mounted doodad on the back, top of the fuel pump - one terminal pointing upwards, should be connected to a plug with 3 wires, the other 2 are for the tach signal, these go to the front inside right of the pump but you can just connect ignition 12V direct to the terminal if you don't have the other half of the plug) , 12V to the starter (the great big fat wire) and 12v to the starter solenoid to crank it. And of course a couple of earths, maybe one to one of the starter motor bolts and one to the top of the engine somewhere.tuf045 wrote:yes i do have starting issues as i have converted a 4.5 petrol 80 series to 1hd-ft and have somewiring issues to sort out as the harness supplied has been cut and there appears to some stuff missing like the glow plug relay and other things. so i really need a toyota wiring diagram.dumbdunce wrote:the best thing you can do with the preheat system on a 1HD-FT is throw it away. mostly it is just an intake restriction. the other things you might want to connect include the temp sensor for the gauge, the oil pressure sensor for the gauge, and the oil level sensor for the warning light. the fuel shutoff is the only thing you need to wire up to get the engine to start, the glow system is absolutely not necessary. I hope this info is of more use to you
cheers
