biger alt on a sierra now done - DIY
one wire will be IG on the alternator, that one needs to match black with a white trace on your sierra. (Ignition switched positive)
The other pin will be L on the alternator, that goes to the light, which will be white with a red trace from memory.
Obviously the big fat wire goes to the battery (normally white with a yellow trace)

While the larger alternator will be harder for the engine to spin than the standard alternator, I noticed no difference (drop) in power / or increased 'load' on the motor with the EF 100A alt installed. One of the best modifications you can do to your zook (apart from fitting an Optima battery too.)

i am looking into doing this mod. but i got 1.6efi vit motor in my sierra. has multi v groved belt. from reading aroun i am shure it will stll fit.
and the alternator to use it is a

Just put a 100amp alt on my zook, i can run my 2 driving lights (+ high beam h/lights), 4 spottys on the roof, 2 rear work lights, and the heater and it doesnt drop below 14V (at about 1500rpm). I upgraded the wiring, to. I can hear the alt working pretty hard, not sure yet if it has lost any power though!
F&R ARB air lockers, lux diffs, 4 link coil rear, drop shackles, inboarded ranchos, stage 4 reduction gears, 35" silverstones, 9500 winch, RUF, 1.6 EFI, swimming goggles

Fan Belt Part No.?
Hey Guy's Doing this Mod at the moment mine is orig 1Ltr now 1.3 I'm running the barina multi groove pulleys and the std Ford one on a 110amp Mitsubishi EL Alt all's working out pretty good so far but I just need to know what part number fan belt to run as the suzuki/barina one is just a little too short and I dont want to grind into the Alternator like Chris had to so If anyone can list what multi groove belt (Brand and Part No.) their running this would be a big help thanks in advance Robb.

I'm still using the belts I had.
But the numbers on the belts mean something, that a good shop should know.
EG 715 could be mm of length etc and other numbers (4, 3 etc) indicate number of grooves.
I'd take in the stocker, and tell them how much longer it needs to be.
Thats what I did with my PS belt.
Check length by wrapping string around, then measure.
Sorry can't give specific p/numbers.
But the numbers on the belts mean something, that a good shop should know.

Fan belt for el alternator conv
Ok had mine measured on the Dayco measuring stick and it was 812mm and the other one I had that was too long measured at 890mm so I went with a 840mm it fits perfect the part no. for this belt is Dayco 3PK0840 this will fit if using Barina water pump and crank pulleys with the EL Alternator with its orig multi rib pulley and note haven't had to space mine as it all seems to line up with orig EL pulley but we'll just finish the job before we jump to conclusions ay!
