Does anyone have an idea on what KONI to use on the front of a GQ with a 3 inch lift? STD Konis for this model are max 2inch. As long as it is pin to pin WHO CARES. MAybe someone has been thru this and can tell part no of their shocks or model it came off ie 40 series cruiser, 80 series etc. I cant find anything for the rear in a koni with eye to eye unless i remount the reat locating point.
Any help appreciated

KONIS FOR GQ
Re: KONIS FOR GQ
when I went thru this few yrs back, Called Koni in Melb, they said to me come in, well sort it out..
have you called Koni themselves?
have you called Koni themselves?
I rang koni the other day about mine to see what size lift they could handle, and when i read out the part number, the guy said to me that it was a 1 inch lift, and i said which part of the number told you that, and he said that the SP1 told him -spacer, for 1 inch lift- so i asked about the spacer, and he said that it could be taken out, to make them suitable for 3 inch lift ($110 to remove spacers for all 4, or $154 to rebuild per pair, and they could remove the spacers at the same time).
But as usual, don't quote me on anything, cauz i'm going off memory here as i was only doing it out of interest for the moment

what about 2" 60 series ones with a "pin to eye " adaptor for the front.
just guessing as i had a couple in the shed a while back and they would work out around 4 to 6 inches.
another guess...what about mazda B2600 for the rear ?

when i first fitted my 7" springs i used a 2" koni in the rear until i saved up for the right shocks.
i welded a tube underneath the axle tube just above the original mount and used a 3/4 bolt through tube and shock eye to mount it.
It was about 25 mm too short so if you used a standard length shockie mounted in this position it may work out the right length.
just a thought

Found range rover ones to be correct for the front Koni Part no.84-1190 which has a open length of 540mm (measurement from the body of the shock) These measure an inch longer than the same shock for a 2 inch lift on a gq. Will get them today, but still need to find rears. Have taken the static measurements and given it to them to source, even if they have to b truck ones revalved. I'll let u know. They have to be hydraulic shocks. After having Konis on the suzuki and MQ it's hard to live with gas shocks. While the OME aren't too bad, just cant beat the ride of the hydraulics, in my opinion. Even the Pajero rides good with hydraulics. Everything for a price though. Don't like ranchos- seen too may fail. I'll keep everyone informed with what i get for the rear. I'll ring Melb as well
